

It functions much like the NES version’s spell charge system but is more flexible. Many routines and data structures have been modified for this purpose, and several new ones introduced. This patch overhauls Final Fantasy I: Dawn of Souls to use a Vancian spellcasting system in place of MP. While the FF remakes are available on other platforms, this is the only one the Mod of Balance works on, making this entry somewhat of an oddball.

It's pretty hard in the initial areas while getting to grips with the heightened changes, but evens out around mid-game, creating quite an amusing experience. Step things up a notch with the "Mod of Balance", a ROM patch that boosts the difficulty of both games, but adds numerous additions and alterations to both player (such as equip options and spells) and enemy characters (such as drops and skills) to create a more balanced game.
